Biography
My name is Jat Puri, and my wife Dayah and I proudly chose North Delta as our home to start our family and be closer to our deep roots in this community. My professional background is built on a 21-year career at the Vancouver International Airport, where I specialize in writing emergency policies, managing multi-million-dollar terminal construction budgets, and ensuring complex infrastructure works seamlessly under high pressure.
Alongside my aviation career, I bring extensive governance board experience from chairing major non-profit organizations. Through this public service, I have worked directly with municipal councils, mayors, MLAs, and MPs to advocate for local initiatives. For these community commitments, I was humbled to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee pin recognizing outstanding local volunteerism. This background means I understand civic systems and know how to collaborate across different levels of government to get real results.
I am running for Delta City Council with the Delta First slate because our community is experiencing rapid changes, and we cannot afford a closed-door culture at City Hall. We need a practical, transparent approach that treats residents and local business operators as genuine partners. We cannot simply push through massive density projects without the infrastructure to support them, nor can we allow our mature urban tree canopy to be stripped away.
If elected, I will apply my operational experience to manage our budgets carefully, protect our unique neighborhood character, and implement a strict Council Code of Conduct. I will work tirelessly to bring back open public Q&A sessions and bring the people's voice back to City Hall. It would be an honor to represent you. Let’s put Delta First.
