Rosalyn Bird was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Prince George-Valemount in November 2024, bringing more than two decades of Canadian Armed Forces service and a lifelong commitment to leadership, accountability and public service to the Legislature.

Since her election, Rosalyn has worked to be a strong and accessible voice for Prince George, Valemount, McBride and communities throughout the Robson Valley, while ensuring the priorities of Northern and rural British Columbia are heard in Victoria.

During her first term, Rosalyn served as Official Opposition Whip and held critic responsibilities for Citizens’ Services, Children and Family Development, Community Safety and Integrated Services, and Armed Forces Development and Veteran Affairs. She has also served on several legislative committees, where she developed a strong appreciation for detailed legislative review, government accountability and constructive collaboration across party lines.

One of Rosalyn’s proudest accomplishments was successfully sponsoring the Veterans and First Responders Act in 2026. The Private Member’s Bill received unanimous support in the Legislative Assembly and formally recognizes the service and sacrifice of British Columbia’s veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members and first responders.

Rosalyn has also advanced a long-term economic vision for Prince George and Northern British Columbia through her proposal for an Integrated Northern Defence, Training and Trade Hub. The initiative builds upon the region’s strategic location, transportation infrastructure and skilled workforce, with the goal of attracting investment, diversifying the Northern economy and creating stable, family-supporting careers for generations to come.

Before entering provincial politics, Rosalyn served for more than twenty years in the Canadian Armed Forces. She began her career as a Boatswain, later became a Resource Management Clerk, and in 2005 was commissioned from the ranks as a Naval Logistics Officer. Her career included service at CFS Alert, deployments aboard Royal Canadian Navy ships and support for NATO operations.

Her military service helped shape the values she continues to bring to public life: duty, loyalty, integrity and courage.

Rosalyn’s work as MLA has been grounded in listening to constituents, advocating for communities that too often feel overlooked, and pursuing practical solutions. Her priorities have included safer communities, veterans and first responders, stronger public services, government accountability, economic development, and resource and infrastructure investment.

Rosalyn is seeking re-election with a desire to continue serving the people of Prince George-Valemount and strengthening the voice of Northern British Columbia. She believes public service is both a privilege and a responsibility and that the decisions made today must create opportunity, stability and stronger communities for the generations that follow.
