Matt has lived in Saanich for most of his life. He attended Arbutus, Mount Doug, and Mount View, and has lived with his wife Teri in the Braefoot area for the past 25 years, where they’ve raised a blended family of eight children, and now enjoy twelve grandchildren, plus two beloved Labradoodles.
Matt’s career began at Victoria Press, the precursor to the Times Colonist, where he was actively involved in the union before moving into a management position. In that role, he oversaw a team of employees and managed a multi-million-dollar budget. Matt left the TC in his early 40s to become a software developer for a multinational firm. During that time, he also created a charity fundraising platform, hibid.ca, which has helped local charities raise nearly $10 million. He continues to develop the platform to this day.
Matt is a member of the Save Our Saanich team.
