I want to make sure every policy and proposal considers the impact it will have on people’s health; not just for the term, but how health will improve or worsen 30 years down the road.

Biography

submitted to Port Moody's elections office by the candidate

I became a registered nurse because I wanted to help people. I started my career just as the pandemic hit, and six years on the front lines have shown me that good health depends on far more than hospitals. It starts with strong communities, thoughtful planning, access to recreation, safe transportation, and the everyday services people rely on.

That experience fuelled a passion for preventative care. Good change starts at the grassroots, but it takes policy to make it last. That's why I earned a Master of Health Leadership and Policy in Clinical Education from the University of British Columbia, focusing on how frontline clinical experience can drive systems-level change and address the issues that start long before people walk through the hospital doors. Today I still work as an RN, mentor nursing students on my unit, and volunteer with a local hospice thrift store that supports palliative care in our community.

Our cities can be designed to keep people healthy, but only if we make that an intentional part of every proposal we approve. Safe streets, sidewalks, and walkable neighbourhoods help people live active, connected lives. Port Moody's growth has already strained our parks, library, recreation spaces, and programs, and we need to catch up so residents can actually use them.

At City Hall, I'll champion practical, evidence-based decisions that put residents first. I'm committed to bringing a provincially funded family doctor clinic to Port Moody so residents have primary care close to home, and to working with my team to expand Rocky Point Park, giving us more green space for our mental and environmental health.

I'm running for Council with Port Moody Voice to be a voice for the health of this community: for the families, seniors, and residents here now, and for the neighbours still to come. Together, we can protect what makes Port Moody special while planning responsibly for its future.
