Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
Two-term North Vancouver School Trustee, former Board Chair and Vice-Chair, parent, educator, and librarian. I am seeking re-election to support student success, inclusive learning, staff well-being, and strong public education for every learner.

I am a parent, educator, librarian, and two-term North Vancouver School Trustee committed to strengthening public education and supporting student success.

Since being elected in 2018, I have served on the North Vancouver Board of Education, including as Vice-Chair and Board Chair. In these roles, I have worked collaboratively with fellow trustees, students, families, staff, and community partners to advance student learning, well-being, and inclusion.

Professionally, I serve as Interim Associate University Librarian, Collections at the University of British Columbia, where I provide strategic leadership for library collections and resources that support teaching, learning, and research. I am currently on secondment from my substantive role as Head of the UBC Law Library. I am also an Honorary Lecturer at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, where I teach legal research, writing, and analysis, and a course on Education and the Law.

I hold degrees in history, law, and library and information studies from UBC and I am a non-practising member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.

My family and I have called North Vancouver home for many years. My wife is a lifelong North Vancouver resident, and together we are raising our two children in the community we are proud to call home.

Throughout my career and community service, I have focused on bringing people together, listening respectfully to different perspectives, and working collaboratively to address challenges. These principles continue to guide my work as a trustee and my commitment to public education.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
Over the past eight years, I have worked to support student success, strengthen public education, and bring people together to solve challenges. I am seeking re-election to continue that work and help create the conditions for every student to learn, belong, and succeed.

Serving as a School Trustee has been one of the most rewarding forms of public service I have undertaken. Over the past eight years, I have had the opportunity to work with students, families, staff, and community partners to support learning and strengthen public education in North Vancouver.

I am seeking re-election because I believe there is still important work to do. Our schools continue to face growing and increasingly complex demands, and students need strong advocates who are committed to inclusive learning environments, well-being, and educational excellence.

Drawing on my experience as a trustee, parent, educator, librarian, and university administrator, I will continue to approach decisions thoughtfully, collaboratively, and with students at the centre. My goal is simple: to help ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn, belong, and succeed.
