Before her election as a Trustee in 2022, Margaret was a District Parent Advisory Council representative for her children’s school, a United Way Community Builder for Sqwa First Nation, a member of the Chilliwack Healthier Communities Poverty Reduction Table, and a founding board member of Downtown Chilliwack Community Market, Chilliwack Citizens for Change and Chilliwack Pride. She also co-created and managed Extra FARE, a food hamper program for community members with allergies and intolerances, in partnership with Bowls of Hope and United Way. Margaret’s work experience also includes a variety of experiences including coaching, youth leadership, automotive service, tech support, roofing, and customer service. Her foremost passion is working with youth, including supporting Indigenous students through cultural and recreational programming.

Margaret has served as the Board’s BC School Trustee Association Provincial Council Representative all four years of her term and has been the Vice President and (current) President of BCSTA’s Fraser Valley Branch. She chairs the District’s Budget Advisory Committee and has held Board liaison seats at various community tables such as the City’s Transportation Advisory Committee and The Chilliwack Child and Youth Committee (CYC.)

Margaret brings knowledge, practice, and care to the board table along with her 4 years of trustee experience, community non-profit board leadership, deep understanding of Chilliwack’s education system, and passion for positive change. She always shows up having read the package for meetings, and attends every learning session and District event that she is able to with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Personally, Margaret loves thrifting, reading, enjoying Chilliwack’s outdoors, and spending time with her weird and amazing family.
