Human Rights

Recent Immigrants

I believe newcomers should have the opportunity to become active and contributing members of our community.

Access to information about local services, schools, transportation, employment, and community resources can help people settle successfully.

Local Government, Planning, & Democracy

Budgeting

I support responsible and transparent school budgeting, with priority given to curriculum, student learning, safety and mental health.

Public funds should be used efficiently, while ensuring schools have the resources they need to provide a strong education for every student.

Youth Engagement

Students should have opportunities to share their ideas, participate in decisions that affect them, and take part in community activities.

Encouraging youth engagement helps build confidence and leadership skills.

Mental Health, Drugs, & Addiction

Mental Health Crisis Response

I support having clear and effective mental health crisis plans in schools.

Students should have one-on-one access with trained staff and professional support when they are struggling. Schools, families, and health professionals should work together to ensure each student feels safe and supported.

Mental Health in Schools

Schools should have access to counselling and support services.

Students should feel comfortable asking for help without stigma. Early support can make a real difference in a student's well-being.

Public Safety & Policing

Police in Schools

I support positive relationships between schools, students, and local police, particularly when it comes to safety and emergency preparedness.
Police involvement should be appropriate to the situation and focused on building trust rather than criminalizing students.

Reconciliation & Indigenous Nations

Indigenous Schooling

I support respectful and inclusive education that recognizes Indigenous history, cultures, and contributions.

Indigenous students should have access to the same opportunities and support as all students, and schools should help build understanding and respect between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. I also support listening to Indigenous communities and learning from their perspectives when making decisions that affect them.

Schools & Public Education

Artificial Intelligence in Schools

I support the responsible use of AI in schools as a tool to support learning, but it should not replace critical thinking, creativity, or the role of teachers.

Students should be taught how to use AI responsibly, understand its limitations, and recognize issues such as misinformation, privacy, and academic integrity. Clear guidelines should help ensure AI supports education rather than becoming a substitute for learning.

Bullying & Bigotry

I believe there is no place for bullying, discrimination, or bigotry in our community. Full Stop

Everyone should be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or beliefs. I support creating safe, welcoming schools and community spaces where people can participate without fear of harassment or discrimination.

Mental Health in Schools

Schools should have access to counselling and support services.

Students should feel comfortable asking for help without stigma. Early support can make a real difference in a student's well-being.

Neurodivergent Students & Support

I believe every student should have the opportunity to succeed in a safe and supportive learning environment.

Neurodivergent students may need different types of support, and schools should work with students, families, teachers, and support staff to help meet those needs.

Police in Schools

I support positive relationships between schools, students, and local police, particularly when it comes to safety and emergency preparedness.
Police involvement should be appropriate to the situation and focused on building trust rather than criminalizing students.

Student Involvement & Engagement

Encouraging student participation helps young people develop confidence and responsibility. I support creating meaningful ways for students to share their ideas and concerns.

Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
I moved to the Tri-Cities in 2015 and have made this community my home. I am a mother, a business owner, a community volunteer and someone who believes that strong communities are built when we look out for one another.

My experience includes leading a Girl Guides unit, volunteering with Big Sisters of BC, fostering for the SPCA, participating in Tri-Cities community organizations and supporting community initiatives such as the Metro Vancouver Food Drive.

I have also spent years running a local business and working directly with government organizations, giving me practical experience with budgets, licensing, regulations, employees, financial management and advocating for a business to succeed. I specialize in auditing, restructuring, and saving local businesses from financial distress to preserve community jobs and strengthen our tax base.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
I am running for School Trustee because I believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, feel safe, and reach their full potential.

Our schools are more than buildings. They are where children learn, friendships are formed, confidence grows and young people begin to discover who they are. I want to be a trustee who listens to students, parents, educators and support staff in order to make the right decisions for our schools.

I am a mother, a business owner, a community volunteer and someone who believes strong communities are built when we look out for one another.

My experience includes leading a Girl Guides unit, volunteering with Big Sisters of BC, fostering for the SPCA, participating in Tri-Cities community organizations and supporting community initiatives such as the Metro Vancouver Food Drive.

I have also spent years running a local business and working directly with government organizations. That experience has taught me the importance of budgets, accountability, regulations, responsible financial management and making difficult decisions carefully.

I want to bring that practical experience, along with compassion and community involvement, to the role of School Trustee.
