Calvin James VanderPloeg has lived in Surrey for the past 25 years and brings nearly four decades of experience as a tradesperson, entrepreneur, and community volunteer. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he entered the construction industry after a year of university and has been self-employed for most of his working life. His experience includes residential and commercial construction, insurance agent, hospitality businesses, and working with families, tradespeople, engineers, architects, and business owners.

Calvin and his wife, Adeline, have been married for 35 years and are blessed with seven children and four grandchildren. An active member of his local church, he remains committed to the values of faith, personal responsibility, and service to others.

Having volunteered on numerous conservative political campaigns over the years, Calvin is honoured to be running to represent the citizens of Surrey at the municipal level, bringing practical experience, common sense, and a commitment to responsible leadership.
