Meera Gill, a 33-year Surrey resident, has spent nearly 30 years in federal public service and founded Our Global Village Charitable Foundation. During COVID-19 my foundation distributed 75,000 masks in Surrey, and I saw first-hand how stretched our one hospital is. Surrey Memorial handles over 158,000 emergency visits a year, and Fraser Health gets about $800 less per person than Vancouver Coastal, while Surrey grows toward a million people. I will vote to dedicate the City-owned land on King George Boulevard in Newton to a full-service Surrey General Hospital and approve every permit within 60 days.
