I am Gurleen Kaur Chahal, a proud Princess Margaret Secondary graduate, second-year student, and independent candidate for Surrey School Trustee. As a nursing student and youth mentor, my science-based background equips me to tackle the root causes of student struggles rather than treating surface-level symptoms. I will introduce initiatives to reduce student cortisol levels, helping children lower stress and focus better in class. With Surrey's rapid growth, portables are not enough; students need permanent, thriving spaces. I will fiercely advocate for provincial funding for rapid school construction. I am also committed to direct student support, ensuring our schools have more counsellors. Safety is critical. I will implement proactive drug and gang prevention programs. No one understands today's classroom realities better than the youth who just lived them.
